As a literary industry breakthrough, an author seeking publication displays a synopsis of their novel in a cyber showcase gallery, and awaits a publisher to come knocking.

Simply put, the author of an unpublished proposal, creative idea or manuscript, creates a Showcase that is tightly profiled in line with a matrix guideline intended to package their offering in a manner likely to suit a prospective publisher's strategic requirements in discovering a business interest in the intellectual property for sale.

Example: The publisher may be a specialist in say, the Children's genre. They may also be interested within that genre focused on a specific strategic set of categories that differentiate their publishing speciality. They may for instance at this time only be looking to fill their catalogue with age-specific titles targeted at say, Pre-School children and have a heightened interest presently in say, Picture Books.

Solution: Author has categorized their showcase according to a profiling matrix, as,

Publisher's Search: Publisher can request titles be displayed by the system as listed within their specific publishing interest following the route path detailing their requirement. If a match within a genre or any category coded by the author is found, all the titles listed within the same coding route will be displayed within publisher's Showcase Search.

Matching: Searches can be widened or narrowed by a publisher adding or reducing categories selected according to the tightest profiling set by the publisher that meet raising the greatest level of interest editing a Showcase profile coded to their needs.

Ideally, if the author's coded profiling matches the publisher's current requirement, their future is simply a mouse-click away in starting up a professional conversation.

* Publisher can then establish contact with the Author by activating a system-generated e-mail sent to the Showcase Author, and supply any recommended contact details or submission requirements in a direct message.

Note: As publishers will understand, and which authors certainly need to appreciate, this sorting out process and manuscript profiling happens anyhow, only it takes place currently from within a pile of hard copy manuscripts arriving to the publisher's desk, most of which may not be within the publisher's preferences. But they must all be read & possibly thereafter attended to and so find that profiled preference!

Little wonder it takes so long to get a response and why usually it's a rejection?

Genre Matrix & Associated Categories for Listing

Upon gaining subscribed, validated membership access to the site, both the Author & Publisher/Agent, will be able to view a Genre Matrix as detailed below, under which there are listed categories, subject-matter fields, or word length options etc intended to add refinement to tightly catalogue and code the author's work or creative intention, as will ultimately be featured in their unique Author's Showcase.

The Author's Showcase displays a generic, yet comprehensive Proposal Template that will identify either a proposed literary project, a work-in-progress being undertaken or indicate a completed manuscript formatted and edited to go. And since both parties will be following the same cataloguing route path in refining their search or profiling interests, they'll eventually meet at the most tightly aligned junction: an author's talent and intellectual property showcased on display in a precise format.

An author may choose 2 separate Genres if required where their title may be listed in terms of broader showcasing, and within each genre chosen, up to 6 categories can be selected to profile and tightly catalogue the work for publisher search function access.

Note 1: The Genre Matrix detailed below does not utilize the classic Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) but rather has been assembled into generic genre expectations aligned to a typical comprehensive bookstore cataloguing & merchandising showcase.

Note 2: The categories and sub-categories grouped within each primary genre within the Major Matrix have not been expanded here since their listing is extensive and not relevant in this matrix tour. But categories and sub-categories for cataloguing an author's listing, whilst comprising up to 6 selective & accumulative 'clicks', are vast. So for the publisher, an almost precise profile can form a search that clearly enhances the publishing preferences raising a level of interest and selection within that genre.

Note3: In all cases the Author must nominate and Word Length Category in their coding, even if their Showcase is a photographic album, say, with little text as such, but the author must profile the approximate SIZE of the work in word-length terms so the publisher can appreciate the size extent of the content within it if published etc.
